Remote leadership might not be for everyone, but you’re here so it’s probably for you.
I’ve been a General Manager since 2021, and have been building my leadership skills and helping to transform a small software business to a million dollars annual recurring revenue a year long before I was given the title. I’ve successfully transitioned from an hour commute every day, having talent limited by post codes to a fully remote organisation with talent from all over Australia and abroad.
We may not be a flashy FANG company, but that doesn’t mean we can’t innovate, grow, and lead in our own unique ways. If you’re in a similar boat, you’re in the right place. I will write about management and leadership insights from relatable businesses in different industries to combine those learnings into a single place where we can all grow, build and learn together to become the new wave of remote leaders and culture builders.

A guiding principle of mine is that, in the modern workforce, adults should be treated like adults, there shouldn’t be micromanaging, people shouldn’t be “dressed down”. Communicate with kindness and good intent, be transparent as much as possible and lead like you would like to be led.Â
This space is a place for me to document my journey becoming a better leader of remote teams. I hope to cover topics such as moving from a doer to a leader, remote leadership, culture building, management frameworks, insights I learn from peers and the experiments that work and those that don’t.
